Laura C. Heisman, Esq., has been practicing law in New Jersey for nearly fourteen years. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English/Writing from La Salle University in 2002. She thereafter attended Rutgers University School of Law-Camden, during which time she completed an internship with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and participated in the moot court program. Following graduation in 2005, Ms. Heisman served as Law Clerk to Honorable Thomas A. Brown, Jr., PJ.Cr., (ret.) of the Camden County Superior Court, Criminal Division. She was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 2006. Ms. Heisman then began a twelve-year career as an Assistant Prosecutor with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
Ms. Heisman served in the Juvenile, Trial Team, Grand Jury, and Special Prosecutions Units throughout her career at the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. She has prosecuted thousands of cases including narcotics, domestic violence, child abuse, firearms offenses, white collar crime, and homicides, among others. In addition, she served as an instructor at the Camden County Police Academy, trained junior prosecutors, and assisted in administrative matters. Ms. Heisman was promoted to the position of Deputy Section Chief of the Juvenile Unit before leaving the office in 2017.
Ms. Heisman joined Katherine O’Brien Law in 2018 and brings a wealth of institutional knowledge regarding criminal law practice in New Jersey. Her superior writing skills, oral argument ability, and familiarity with the court system make her a valued resource for our expungement clients.
